The uncertainty of when this will end, when we will be safe and the suffering of so many will end, when our children will be able to return to some sort of routine, when we will be able to return to work, our finances, etc. At the same time, this has been a week of many different religious celebrations, including (but not limited to) Easter and Passover. A time when most would be gathering in their respective churches or synagogues, gathering together with their families and friends, and enjoying a meal celebrating life and rebirth. A time of joy and happiness and peace. The message of the season does not have to be lost amongst the chaos and the shut downs. The message of the season is still alive within each of us. We can access this message, and the meaning at any time. It is always there for us. But how when we are in such turmoil? How when we are “stuck” and our world is crumbling around us? We can access the meaning and message by taking hold of what so many are referring to as the “Great Pause,” or the “Spiritual Pause,” if you feel so called. Take this extra time that has been given to us to pause, and reflect on what “normal” used to be. What part of “normal” was working for you? And what part of “normal” was not serving you? What part of “normal” do you truly want to return to? What was truly important? In the most recent blog post by Rha Goddess, owner and creator of Move The Crowd.org, she writes, "All of us are being called right now – to get our house in order. Spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically and financially. To address what lies at the heart of our foundation. To affirm what we need in order to rise and release that which does not clarify, strengthen nor empower." Go to Rha Goddess' Blog Here. We were all so “busy” and had little time for what was really important in our lives. This “great pause” is making us face what is important in our lives. It is giving us the time that we have desperately needed to pause, reflect, and prioritize what it is that we want in our lives. I challenge you this week to truly pause. (Meditate if you so choose.) Reflect on what we truly want for our lives and our families. Ask yourself the really hard question: What is my true purpose? If you have never tried journaling, I urge you to write down what comes to you. Don’t try to edit it, just write down what comes to you as you are in “the pause.” I promise, you will be amazed by what you write! Take this (extended) time, and take advantage of the Great Pause. As difficult as it may seem, let’s use the message of this season, and reflect on how we want our “new normal” to look for ourselves and our families. We have NEVER been given an opportunity like this, to recreate and rewrite our stories going forward. Let’s make a mindset shift and see the hidden gift amongst the fear.
