I am not one to discuss politics or religion, or debate either of these things.
I am one to say that when we see, hatred, judgement, anger,
or resentment, rage, or
violence, we are acting from a place of fear.
The first time someone told me this,
I immediately thought, “This is BS. I am not afraid.”
But when I sat with this concept for a while, it started to make sense.
As humans we operate from one of two places: Love, or Fear.
I have seen one of my favorite quotes, from Dr. Martin Luther King, jr, posted daily in the recent weeks. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only Love can do that.”-Martin Luther King Jr.
I believe so deeply in this quote.
Why am I talking about this on my weekly blog, when I am supposed to be helping children and moms and families?
I am talking about it because it would be completely irresponsible of me to ignore it and act like this is not happening in our society right now. And because this is effecting our children, our mothers, our fathers, our families. This is effecting everyone, in some way or another, and none of us can pretend it is not happening. None of us can close our eyes and say that it is not effecting us, it is not our problem, it is not our issue. We can not hide under a blanket and act like it has nothing to do with us.
We can not close our eyes.
We can not ignore it.
We can not continue to place the blame on others.
So what can we do? As I said in a previous post on my personal page, I can not pretend that I understand what black people are, and have, gone through. I can not pretend that I understand what it feels like to be hated simply because of the color of my skin, my nationality, my sexual preference or anything else. I am a middle class white woman. I have privilege. I understand this clearly. So how can I, as this privileged white woman, help this situation?
I can use my voice. I can use my platform. I mean, the title of my company is “Healing Through Love.” And I believe truly with every ounce of my being that LOVE is the only thing that is going to heal our world. Love is the ONLY thing that will stop the hatred, the judgement, the anger, the rage, the violence.
So I stand tall in my belief. Pointing fingers and blaming others will not solve what is happening. And I want a SAFE, peaceful, and loving environment for my grandchildren to grow up and live in.
THIS is the lesson we need to teach our children. BE KIND, to everyone. BE THE LIGHT, for everyone. BE LOVE, to everyone!
I CHOOSE LOVE OVER FEAR.
